MapleCount

Know your citizenship date before you book the next trip.

MapleCount is an iPhone app for permanent residents of Canada. You log your trips abroad once, and it keeps three counts up to date: your days toward citizenship, your PR residency obligation, and your provincial health coverage.

1,095days in Canada in the 5 years before you apply for citizenship
½ daycredit for each day in Canada before PR, up to 365, as on form CIT 0407
730days in every 5-year period to keep PR status

What it does

Enter the day you became a permanent resident, any time you spent in Canada before that on a study or work permit, and your trips. MapleCount works out the earliest day you could apply for citizenship, counting the day you leave and the day you come back as days in Canada, the way IRCC counts them.

Thinking about a long trip? Add it as a planned trip and the app shows, before you book, whether it would push back your citizenship date, bring you close to the 730-day PR minimum, or break the presence rule for BC MSP, Ontario OHIP, Alberta AHCIP or Québec RAMQ.

If you don't have your travel dates written down, you can paste the text of your CBSA travel history response, or let the app suggest trips from your photo locations or calendar. You check each suggested trip before it is saved. A family can keep up to six people in one app, each with their own trips and dates.

The app works in English, French, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic and Persian. Your data stays on your iPhone; there is no account to create.

Estimates only. MapleCount follows the rules IRCC publishes, but only IRCC decides citizenship and PR status, and only your provincial plan decides health coverage. Before you apply, run your dates through IRCC's official physical presence calculator.

New to the app? Open it and tap Try with example trips to see a filled-in timeline. You can remove the example data with one tap.
